Barons Senior Brandon Nugue’ Commits

On November 17, 2018, Brandon Nugue’ committed to Lawson State Community College. The right handed pitcher will be heading to Birmingham next year to begin his college education and join the Cougars baseball program. “We are extremely proud of Brandon and his drive. He had a goal of being able to play baseball at the collegiate level and he met that goal. We are excited to see how this next chapter of his life plays out.” -parents Carlos and Jennifer Nugue’. Barons Players Named GICAA All State and All Region

In the 2018 GICAA season, Junior Brandon Nugue and 8th Grader Andrew Shadburn were both named All Region and All State. Andrew led the JV team in batting average and OPS and was second in OBP. He also had the fewest amount of errors for the season. Andrew was the only 8th grader to win GICAA All Region and All State. Brandon was integral to the pitching staff. In the two state playoff games, he had 1.07 ERA with 20 strikeouts and four home runs. This is the first year with the Barons for both Shadburn and Nugue. The Barons were runners up in the GICAA region playoffs.

It was business as usual for MGBA in the championship game as a run-rule victory of 11-3 put them on top of the Rawlings Southeast Prospects and champions of the weekend. The offense was rolling from the get-go for MGBA as they scored at least one run in every inning for a final tally of eleven runs scored on twelve hitters.
