Senior Spotlight: Jimmy Martens
The Barons are excited to honor our 2020 Seniors!
Jimmy Martens joined the Barons as a sophomore. He’s been a short stop and a right handed pitcher.
His thoughts:
A goalie turned shortstop. My love of sports began at the age of four when my parents signed me up to play soccer. At the age of nine I switched to baseball. In my second year playing in my local Little League my team, the Wildcats, won the Minor division. In my fourth year my team, the Giants, won the Major division, and I was selected as the team’s most valuable player and selected for the league’s All-Star Team. I was in love with the game of baseball.
I’ve since played ball with several teams, but I am concluding my career with the Gwinnett Barons. Over three spring seasons, Coach Paul Dreslinski has challenged me to become a better baseball player and a better person. I want to thank Coach Paul for the time and effort that he has poured into the Barons organization and me. Likewise, I would like to thank all of those that dedicate themselves to creating a top-notch baseball program for homeschool students. I’d also like to thank the teammates that I have played with over the years. I have formed many friendships that I will take along with me. Starting next year, I plan on studying Political Science. My favorite verse is Proverbs 10:9, “Whoever lives honestly will live securely, but whoever lives dishonestly will be found out.”
Way to go, Jimmy!
